Millipore Forms New Diagnostics Strategic Business Unit

Billerica, Massachusetts --- January 2, 2007 --- Millipore today announced the formation of a Diagnostics strategic business unit (SBU) that will develop, market and sell materials to diagnostic manufacturers. The new organization is a result of refocusing Millipore’s OEM Membrane and Media group to include the synergies and extended product offerings from Chemicon, Upstate and Celliance. Formerly, the businesses were part of Serologicals until the acquisition by Millipore in July 2006.

Millipore’s Diagnostics SBU will continue offering existing OEM products, which include a variety of hydrophilic, hydrophobic, ultrafiltration and diagnostic membranes as well as chromatography media products. The newly integrated companies will expand Millipore’s diagnostic product portfolio. Chemicon and Upstate offer 23 years of experience in reagent production and one of the broadest selections of antibodies available – including over 4,000 hybridoma cell lines in house. Celliance contributes its BIOSCOT® blood typing monoclonal antibodies in various forms from standard intermediates, For Further Manufacturing Use (FFMU) to finished reagents. Millipore has gained expertise in the manufacture of monoclonal antibodies and finished blood typing reagents, and now this experience is available to companies that need antibodies for diagnostic applications.
